Sara and I had the opportunity to go visit a local designer on Monday, Andy from Ample Furniture. We had a lovely time talking shop in his warehouse studio. Getting to see the products in person and learn about Andy’s process and philosophy gave us a much better appreciation for his beautiful furniture. Ample is a local company, using locally sourced materials whenever possible, and believe us these northwest hardwoods are simply gorgeous. Started in 2010, Andy began making furniture with the Seattle home in mind, realizing people “found themselves bored with the traditional designs at the big stores and discouraged by the prices at the boutique design stores.” He set about creating beautiful, well constructed pieces that are locally made and affordable. The current collection contains four pieces; a coffee table with a felted wool insert, a side table, a bench and a standing lamp. Hands down, our favorite is his Solstice Lamp, a gorgeous tripod lamp with a fabric covered cord, making this piece more art than lighting. If you want one of these beauties, head over to his website right now! They are currently backordered but if you pre-order one by the 25th of October (Just a week away!) You get 15% off and free shipping. We really enjoyed talking with Andy and since we can’t scoop up all his designs for ourselves we hope you will take the time to check out this talented local artist.
